Funeral services for Opal Madden, age 83 of Simsboro, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, April 30, 2012 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Ruston with Reverend Richard Abel officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Mrs. Madden was born May 6, 1928 to Estelle and Elmer Martin and died April 27, 2012. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, garden, sew, and take care of her family that she loved dearly. Mrs. Madden was a Christian who surrendered her life to Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carroll "Buddy" Madden, her son Homer Wade Madden, her daughter-in-law Kim Madden, her granddaughter Rebecca Emily Madden, and her grandson John Pierce Jones, Jr., two sisters: Vater Lee Gipson and Susan Martin; and two brothers: Elmer Lee Martin, Jr. and Stanton Martin, Sr.
Mrs. Madden is survived by three sons: Larry Joe Atkins and wife Tommie, Gregory Carroll Madden and wife Angela, Thomas Ray Madden and wife Susan, all of Simsboro; one daughter: Janice Marie and husband George Sonnenburg of Independence, MO.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Sue and husband Bob Nowell of Corpus Christi, TX and Patsy and husband John Shelton of Simsboro and two brothers: Jake Martin and wife Nell and Frank Martin, all of Ruston.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Casey Madden, Johah Madden, Tim Atkins, Ken Atkins, Sean Madden, Jared Bell and T. J. Madden.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Owens Memorial Chapel.
