Martille Cook passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 04, 2012, leaving a legacy of commitment to God, family and friends. Services for Mrs. Cook include a visitation Friday, April 6 from 5:00- 7:00 pm at Owens Funeral Home in Ruston. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Cook Baptist Church at 10:00 am with Rev. Mike Holloway officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Cook Cemetery. Martille was born February 19, 1920 to Clarence and Mary Copeland in Seymore, TX. She moved to Ruston, LA as a young child with her loving family. It was here she met her devoted husband, Jabe Walker “JW” Cook; where they married April 23, 1938. During their 56 years of marriage, they welcomed six children into this world. Mrs. Cook is survived by her five children: Nancy Frye of Garland, TX; Robert “Sonny” Cook and wife Lynda of Ruston, LA; Ruth Anne Johnson and husband Rev. Bill of Elkin, NC; Elizabeth “Beth” Munson and husband John of Lagos, Nigeria, Africa; and Patricia “Pixie” Kees and husband Roy of Ruston, LA. Mrs. Cook loved sewing, needlepoint, and cooking for others and is remembered as a gracious hostess. Her recipes and cooking expertise are already treasured by multiple generations who knew and loved her as, “Mamaw”. These treasured grandchildren include: Randy Hughes and wife Jackie of Franklin, TN; Matthew Hughes of Franklin, TN; Deborah Tinsley and husband Clay of Dallas, TX; Dawn Frye of Argyle, TX; Angela Cook of Memphis, TN; Tina Ray and husband Aaron of Hebert, NC; Joy Nolan and husband Shawn of Choudrant, LA; Bobby Cook and wife Jennifer of Puyallup, WA; Lisa Till and husband Todd of Ruston, LA; Brian Hester and wife Lynn of Ruston, LA; Amanda Minnifield and husband Terry of Ruston, LA; Blake Johnson and wife Mary of Yadkinville, NC; Adam Johnson and wife Candy of Tar Heel, NC; Danielle Curry of Ruston, LA; Patrick Curry of Ruston, LA; Benjamin Curry of Ruston, LA and Ashley Kees of Quitman, LA. She is also survived by: brother, O.B. Copeland of Monroe, LA; and brother, John Copeland and wife Manette of Flowery Branch, GA. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Copeland; husband, Jabe Walker “JW” Cook; daughter, Mary Lois Hughes; three sisters, Nancy Causey, Mozelle Crawford, Jean Fowlkes; grandson, Gordon Hughes; granddaughter, Melissa Hall; and great granddaughter, Renee Hall. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronald Taylor, Donnie Brown, Chris Morgan, Patrick Curry, Casey Morgan, and Benjamin Curry.
