Maudine Pepper Jeffcoats, age 87 of Simsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 after a long life as a much loved wife; a caring and adored mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and as a faithful, supportive friend.
“Miss” Maudine was born in Union County Arkansas on November 13, 1924 to James Pepper and Jane Williams Pepper. She was married for 52 years to the late William Douglas “Pete” Jeffcoats. She spent the last 51 years in the Village of Simsboro where she was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the Laura Strain Sunday School Class. She is remembered as an avid gardener; an excellent seamstress; a great cook (whose specialty was fried apple pies): a lover of good times with family and friends; and an accomplished conversationalist (we will miss those little chats). Nothing pleased her more than to prepare and enjoy a meal with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet and husband Ben Burns ofWatkinsville, GA; her two sons: Doug Jeffcoats of Dallas, TX and Gary Jeffcoats and wife Suzanne of Fairfield, CA; her five grandchildren; her four great-grandchildren; and scores of special nieces and nephews – all of whom made her life richer.
Visitation will be at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA from 5:00 p.m.until7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Simsboro.
